“Their Lucky Day”

Geneva Lake off Belvidere Park subdivision in Fontana, Wisconsin

“Their Lucky Day” – Fishing and luck go hand in hand, hence the title of this photograph. I hope Lady Luck smiled on the two gents in the boat, but even if they caught nothing they probably were pleased to be on the water.

The fishermen were moored on a bright summer morning on August 23, 2009, at the western end of Geneva Lake off Belvidere Park subdivision in Fontana, Wisconsin. This scene looks east from my position on the shore path.

The time of day really makes this photo because of the sunlight reflected on the water. Had I done this photo a bit later, the composition would have been different due the sun being higher in the sky. Therefore, no reflection – at least not that I could have seen from my perspective.

The lucky day the fishermen experienced also was my lucky day. Yes, I was pleased to be walking the shore path, but the light playing on the water always takes the experience up several notches for me.

On numerous occasions, I have stood at the shoreline or at the end of a pier and looked down at the water to see the sunlight or moonlight doing its dance. I truly am mesmerized, and sometimes I have wondered if it would hypnotize me to the point of falling off a pier!
